In a major blow to Indian badminton, world No. 10 in men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy has tested positive for COVID-19.

As reported by the Times of India, Rankireddy had tested positive in both the confirmatory rapid antigen test and RT-CPR test. He is currently in self-isolation.

His father confirmed that Rankireddy was asymptomatic and other members of the family had tested negative for the virus.

It can be pointed out that Rankireddy is one of the eight players from the country selected by the Indian authorities to be allowed to train at the national training camp. He had not yet joined the camp due to safety concerns.
