Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin made history today by becoming the first players from Chinese Taipei to reach a semi-final in badminton at the Olympics.

Next, they will meet Indonesian favourites Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan aka ‘The Daddies’ tomorrow in the semi-finals to fight for a spot in the final.

Though Lee and Wang are behind 4-6 in the head-to-head record against the Daddies, they have won the last two encounters against the Indonesians. Both the matches were in Bangkok in January, one in the final of the HSBC World Tour Finals and one in the semi-final of the Toyota Thailand Open.

Regarding their match ahead, Wang Chi-Lin said, “We beat them in Thailand but that’s in the past. Tomorrow’s a new day. So we want to do much better, and we will watch their match and learn.”
