Badminton England (BE) announced that badminton would be reinstated as a part of World Class Olympic Programme and Paralympic Programme in Great Britain. Monetary support to culminating about 4.25 million pounds (5.7 million USD approx.) would also be allotted to the association.

The World Class Olympic Programme and the Paralympic Programme will focus on Great Britain’s performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics Games.

In a statement, Adrian Christy, Chief Executive of BE, said that the association was delighted to be part of the World Class Olympic Programme and that the efforts and trust of the BE would go beyond 2024.

“We are very aware of the obvious challenges on public finances caused by the impact of the pandemic and so are extremely appreciative of this award which allows us not just to move into the Olympics and Paralympics next summer but to plan for a programme that we are confident will make the nation proud in 2024.”

The funding allotted to the BE is 3.5 million pounds for the Olympic Programme and 1.1 million pounds for the Paralympic Programme.
