YONEX ASTROX 99 PRO
2021 – Present
YONEX ASTROX 99 (BLUE)
2021
YONEX ASTROX 99
2018-2021
The Astrox 99 came after the Astrox 77, 88s and 88d. This racket is primarily for singles and no doubles player in the international circuit is seen using this racket.
The Yonex Astrox 99 was launched in 2018. The racket looks fire with the orange colour and has an interesting feel. It is a stiff and heavy racket which is more suitable for singles players than doubles players.
The racket is good for smashing and it also performed well defensively. Yonex claims this racket can provide steep attacks, this seems like an oversell though. It’s not as fast as Astrox 88D but still moves well for overhead shots and it also delivers power shots better than Astrox 88S.
YONEX ASTROX 88D
2018 (short period)
The astrox 88S and the 88D came out as twin rackets from Yonex. S stands for ‘skill’ and D stands for ‘dominate’. The 88D is the head heavier of the two rackets, which is more suited for an attacking single’s gameplay.
YONEX DUORA Z STRIKE
2017
Kento Momota started using this racket during his return from suspension, in the Japan National Championships. The duora z strike is a weird racket and few people like it. It has a small frame, very stiff shaft, and a very long shaft. If it suits you, you will love it. If not, you will find it useless.
YONEX VOLTRIC Z FORCE 2
2014-2016
Kento Momota used only the black matte version of the Voltric Z Force 2. Thomas Uber Cup 2014 & World championships 2015 are some of the notable tournaments he performed well using this racket.
The Yonex Voltric Z Force 2 might yet be the most iconic racket which has ever been released by Yonex. It was released before the 2014 All England. This racket is primarily meant for singles players as it has a head heavy frame.
The racket will be suited for players who have an attacking style of play. It performs well with overhead attacking shots but it lacks a little bit for defensive shots. You will need to have a very good wrist technique to hit your shots well using this racket.
YONEX VOLTRIC Z FORCE
2012-2013
This is the predecessor to the Z force 2. And one of the earliest rackets of the very successful Voltric series. With weights concentrated on 3 points of the racket frame, the voltric series delivers heavy smashes.
YONEX ARCSABER Z SLASH
2011 and before
Early in his Men’s Singles career, Kento Momota used the Arcsaber Z Slash. With a more egg shaped frame and less box frame, this racket moves very fast in the air – increasing your swing speed.
