Badminton Association of Indonesian withdrew Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Greysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu and Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti from the Swiss Open 2021 scheduled for March 2-7. Through its official website, PBSI revealed three reasons behind their decision.

First, the three representatives will prepare to get the best result at the All England Championship (17-21 March). Second, three consecutive tournaments in three weeks will not likely yield satisfactory results.

Third, the absence of the three representatives from the Swiss Open will not affect their qualification status for the Tokyo Olympics. PBSI is confident that the standings of the three players/pairs are safe for the Olympics.

Currently, Ginting is ranked No. 4 in the Race to Tokyo rankings while Polii/Rahayu and Jordan/Oktavianti are ranked No. 8 and No. 4 respectively.
