Doubles coach Flandy Limpele has resigned from the Indian badminton team.

His departure will hit hard Indian badminton with less than 150 days to go for the Olympics.

According to a statement from the Badminton Association of India (BAI), Flandy cited family matters as the reason for his resignation.

The Indonesian had reportedly flown back home on 7 March.

According to Outlook India, Flandy said, “I feel doubles department is not as favourite as singles. It is unfortunate that it has less love than singles but having said that it is just one of the reasons. The main reason for my departure is personal.”

He is the fourth high profile foreign coach to leave the Indian camp after Kim Ji Hyun, Mulyo Handoyo and Tan Kim Her.

Back in December last year, Flandy said that the bad attitude of the Indian players was the main reason for premature resignations of foreign coaches.
