After 19 years, Carsten Mogensen has left the Danish national badminton team. His last practice at the National Elite Training Center was on Thursday, July 2.

The London Olympic men’s doubles silver medalist stated his reason for leaving the national team through Badminton Denmark’s website. The 36-year old said that the new programs introduced by the national association were not suitable for him.

Mogensen: “Too bad, I can’t find a program (project/target) where I can see myself in. I have hopes to play until 2024 but there has to be programs that should suit me. On the other hand, I respect the Danish Badminton Association which has chosen to prioritize young players for the long term.

“It’s sad to leave, but I will continue to play in the badminton league and spend time in my sporting goods store, so fortunately I have lots of activities to do. On this occasion I want to thank the people who have helped during my career. It has meant a lot.”
