Viktor Axelsen will be playing his 9th final of the year at the Indonesia Open today.

He has been playing without a coach in the tournaments in Bali as the Danish national coaches are unavailable to him after he went independent.

Axelsen commented, “I am extremely proud to be in another final. It has been a good learning experience here to stand a little on your own and not have a coach with you. It has meant that I have had to work with things myself, and BS (Christiansen, his mental coach).

“And my lovely fiancé (Natalia Koch Rohde) has been a good mental trainer in the hotel room.”

In today’s final, Axelsen will face Loh Kean Yew who is one of his sparring partners in his training base in Dubai.
