PV Sindhu will not participate in the Sudirman Cup (26 September-3 October) and Uber Cup (9-17 October).

Badminton Association of India (BAI) general secretary Ajay Singhania told The New Indian Express, “Sindhu had requested us for a break. So we allowed her. She did very well at the Olympics and it would have been hectic.”

Saina Nehwal will not be present in the Indian lineup as well for the Sudirman Cup as she has just resumed training and will be ready to play only in the Uber Cup.
