Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has decided to send Lee Zii Jia to the India Open (11-16 May) to get a better seeding position for the Tokyo Olympics.

Head coach Wong Choong Hann said, “But on second thought, he has the chance to go to the Olympics as the eighth seed. That’s what we want to fight for as it might mean something.”

Currently, Lee is ranked 9th in the Race to Tokyo qualifier behind Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus with a difference of 4343 points. He will earn a valuable 9200 points if he wins the India Open.
