World No. 2 in women’s doubles Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota won the DANISA Denmark Open 2020 title after winning the All England 7 months ago. They beat compatriots and world champions Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara 21-10, 16-21, 21-18.

Talking to BWF in a post-match interview, Hirota said, “We are so happy we could play this Super 750 event, it’s such a big tournament and when we get back, we want to eat something very delicious to celebrate.”

After losing the last four encounters to the Matsunaga pair, Fukuhiro finally broke their deadlock and won. The last time they won against their compatriots was at the 2019 Malaysia Masters.

Fukushima said, “We’ve been losing many times (to them) so we agreed on enjoying the match. Our opponents were taller so we decided to focus on receiving and being patient. We expected long rallies against Japanese players so being patient was our main point.”
