Two days after announcing her withdrawal from the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals, P.V. Sindhu agrees to play for the national side.

President of the Badminton Association of India through social media shared the news. Earlier Sindhu had cited “personal reasons” for her withdrawal from the tournament set for October in Denmark.

The Twitter post reads, “I have requested P.V. Sindhu to join the team as we have a favourable draw and have the best chance to take a shot at a medal at the Thomas and Uber Cup. She has agreed and will prepone her family function so that she can be part of the Indian Team and play for the country.”

This is certainly a boost for the national team where world champion Sindhu is the main star of the squad.

New Indian Express reports that the training camp for the Thomas and Uber Cup is yet to begin. The reason for the delay was due to the confusion over the quarantine SOPs given by the Sports Authority of India.

It is also learned that the selection of the squad and the conducting of the training camps would be finalized at the earliest. Selected players are expected to leave for Denmark on 27 September.
