Malaysia’s Vivian Hoo who recently became an independent player after being ousted from the national team will now partner with Lim Chew Sien (26 years old) in women’s doubles. Malaysia Open (25-30 May) will be the duo’s first tournament if their entries qualify for the main draw.

The 31-year-old said, “We have submitted our entry, hopefully we can make the cut… It won’t be just a one-off for sure, Chiew Sien and I are looking for a long-term partnership. But that depends very much on whether we can secure enough sponsorships.”

Speaking about the 11×5 scoring system, she said, “If this format comes into force, then it’s really suitable for an ‘old horse’ like me.”
