Viktor Axelsen has tested positive for Covid-19 at the ongoing 2021 European Championships, according to a tweet from Danish BWF commentator Steen Pedersen. A re-test will be done tomorrow to rule out any possibility of a false positive.
Axelsen won his semi-final match against Kalle Koljonen (Finland) today in two straight games and is supposed to face teammate Anders Antonsen in the final tomorrow. If he tests positive in his re-test tomorrow, Antonsen will automatically become the 2021 European champion through a walkover.
