Axelsen in tears after winning the gold at Tokyo

Viktor Axelsen is the new Olympic champion after defeating the defending champion Chen Long in the final today at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Axelsen needed just two games to win the match, with a scoreline of 21-15, 21-12.

Axelsen is only the second European after Poul Erik Hoyer (1996 Atlanta) to win the gold in the men’s singles event at the Olympics and only the third European to win the gold in any event (after Hoyer and Carolina Marin).
