In what comes as a big sigh of relief for the Indian badminton team, doubles player Sikki Reddy tests negative for Covid-19 in a second confirmatory test.

Indian doubles player Sikki Reddy became headlines two days back after she tested positive in a Covid-19 test. She was reportedly asymptomatic and was hoping for a negative result in a second test.

A second confirmatory test (PCR swab) done yesterday has cleared the player as Covid-19 negative. PCR swab test is one of the most accurate test available for detecting the virus.

Today, the player shared the news on her social media. Her post reads, “Hi everyone, I was waiting for my report to post it officially. I got my second test done with the help of BAI, SAI & PGBA. Here it goes it’s NEGATIVE. ( Also neither me nor my family have any symptoms) Thank you everyone for showing immense support.”

Yesterday, after the news of the COVID-19 infections, the national training camp was temporarily shut down for sanitization.

Head coach Pullela Gopichand told Telangana Today, “We are following all the guidelines and as per the protocol we will start after three days.”
