Rexy Mainaky, head coach of the Thailand national team uses smartwatch to keep Thai badminton players in check during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Rexy is using smartwatches to remotely track the workout of national players who are stuck at home. Under the new training regimen, players are required to train for two sessions per day, 6 days per week. The sessions include physical training, shuttlecock wall practice and footwork.

“We have 3 staffs to control 10 players. I have assigned a coach to follow their practice. Smartwatch reports heart rate, sleep tracker, etc. I can use it to follow the efficiency of practice. I will know how players push themselves. We also have video call meeting to give them some advice,” Rexy said to Matichon.

Incidentally, smartwatches were also used by Rexy and the coaching staff during the All England this year to analyze players’ performance.
