Rio Olympics silver medallist Pusarla V Sindhu took the bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 after defeating China’s He Bing Jiao in the bronze medal playoff. The final scoreline was 21-13, 21-15.
From love-all, Sindhu played the match at a very high pace until the end of the match, a pace which He Bing Jiao struggled to keep up with.
With this bronze medal, Sindhu now becomes the fourth only women’s singles player in history to take home medals from two consecutive Olympics, after Zhang Ning, Susi Susanti and Bang Soo Hyun.
