Rio Olympics silver medallist Pusarla V Sindhu took the bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 after defeating Chinaโ€™s He Bing Jiao in the bronze medal playoff. The final scoreline was 21-13, 21-15.

From love-all, Sindhu played the match at a very high pace until the end of the match, a pace which He Bing Jiao struggled to keep up with.

With this bronze medal, Sindhu now becomes the fourth only womenโ€™s singles player in history to take home medals from two consecutive Olympics, after Zhang Ning, Susi Susanti and Bang Soo Hyun.
