Does no Denmark Open I and Denmark Masters 2020 mean no Thomas and Uber Cup participation?
Nine players from the Thai national team have requested to withdraw from participating in the Super 750 tournaments Denmark Open I and Denmark Masters 2020, as per reports by Badminton Thai Today.
The two tournaments are set for the two consecutive weeks after the Thomas and Uber Cup (October 3 -11).
The nine players who withdrew are as follows.
Ratchanok Intanon
Kunlavut Vitidsarn
Phittayaporn Chaiwan
Pornpawee Chochuwong
Puttita Supajirakul
Sapsiree Taerattanachai
Supak Jomkoh
Supissara Paewsampran
Dechapol Puavaranukroh
The Chinese Taipei team has already withdrawn from participating at the Thomas and Uber Cup while Chou Tien Chen and Wang Tzu Wei are still set to participate in the two Super 750 tournaments. World champion P.V. Sindhu has also previously withdrawn from the Uber Cup due to “personal reasons” and it is not clear if she would participate any tournament in Denmark.
It remains to be seen as to what the Badminton Association of Thailand decides to do. Confirmed participation of the nine players at the Thomas and Uber Cup are still awaited.
