Kento Momota won his match against Lee Zii Jia today in the BWF Sudirman Cup by producing a stellar performance. The world no. 1 shut down the in-form Lee Zii Jia in two straight games 21-18, 21-10.

The start of the match looked worrying for Momota after Lee Zii Jia raced off to a 6-0 lead.

But Momota started playing in a way which he hasn’t for the last few years – an attacking style of play, instead of his usual rallying style.

Lee Zii Jia struggled to find a working game plan in the second game, after losing the first game where he threw almost everything at Momota.

Momota closed down all opportunities for Lee Zii Jia to score for the rest of the match and saw the match home comfortably.
