Denmark’s top women’s singles Mia Blichfeldt has been ruled out of the European Championships (27 April-2 May) due to a knee injury. Badminton Denmark confirmed that Blichfeld had been diagnosed with patellar tendonitis, which is an inflammation of the tendon in the kneecap.

Blichfeldt, who won the bronze in 2018 said, “I am of course really sorry that my knee injury has come back right before the European Championships, because I think I have been in a good form lately. So I was really looking forward to playing after a good break since the All England.

“But I have learned from previous injuries that I do not want to compromise my body, because it has to last a long time and also for many other tournaments and championships.”
