Though the finals day at the 2021 European Championships has been badly affected by Covid-19, some hearty scenes emerged at the prize distribution ceremony.

After Rodion Alimov and Alina Davletova (Russia) won the mixed doubles title, the gold medals were delivered to them using a remotely controlled drone to maintain social distancing.

All the players on the podium, including the runners-up Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith, were surprised and smiled on seeing the drones.
