World No. 1s Marcus Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo won their debut match at the Olympics today in the morning session of day one, beating opponents Ben Lane and Sean Vendy in two straight games 21-15, 21-11.

Speaking to PBSI media after the match, Gideon said, “This is our first match at the Olympics, there is a bit of tension, but we are happy to finally play here.”

“Our opponents played well, but we also feel that our performance was quite good today. They were very fast, especially in the first game. But we overcame it and were much better in the second game.”
