Marca released the Top 100 Sportsmen of the 21st century. Lin Dan, featured in at 75th rank, is described as “the greatest badminton player of all time” on the list. He is the lone badminton player on the list so far and will possibly be the only feature from badminton. (Only the bottom half of the list has been published so far)

The honour bestowed to Lin Dan is certainly no small feat. Marca was ranked as the 12th best newspaper in the world in 2019. It has a readership of more than 2,500,000 daily, the highest in Spain for any daily newspaper.

No badminton player in history has managed to outedge the Chinese maestro. There is no other badminton player who has achieved the Super Grand Slam like Lin Dan. By 2011, he completed this feat by winning all of the following major tournaments – Olympic Games, World Championships, Asian Games, Thomas and Uber Cups, Sudirman Cups, Super Series Finals, All England and Asian Championships.
In 2012, Lin Dan made history by becoming the first men’s singles player to defend an Olympic title.

Who would have imagined that a child whose father wanted him to become a pianist would reach such heights in the extremely competitive world of sports? Lin Dan’s amazing consistency for over 15 years in his career has made him worthy of the name Super Dan
