HSBC World Tour Finals winners Lee So Hee and Shin Seung Chan were awarded the best players award (MVPs) at the MBN Women’s Sports Awards for January. Both players received trophies and prize money at the awards ceremony today in Seoul.

Last month, Lee and Shin made history as the first Korean women’s doubles to win the BWF World Tour Finals by beating compatriots Kim So Yeong and Kong Hee Yong with a score of 15-21, 26-24, 21-19.

The awards, which were started in 2012, are given out every month and aim to revitalize women’s sports and encourage the development of female athletes. The monthly awards are accompanied with an annual, grand awards at the end of the year.

The president of the Korean Women’s Sports council commented, “The two athletes continue to develop and rise to become the world’s top athletes despite the difficult training conditions due to Covid-19.” (via Chosun)
