The Hong Kong Sports Institute, home to the Hong Kong national team, confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 at the premises on 6 August. The infected person is reported to be a cleaning staff. According to Singtao’s report, the hospital said the person is not exhibiting any symptoms.

The hospital statement also mentioned that he took up all the necessary steps of safety like face masks, face shields and other equipment while working so there was no need to panic. Everyone who came in contact with the person has been placed under quarantine for 14 days.

As a safety measure, all staff and players will undergo testing. Ng Ka Long Angus who is a part of the national team said that he was not too worried about contracting the virus as the infected person did not clean the floor where he stayed. He added, “Regardless, I will continue to be hygienic as much as possible to minimise the risk of getting infected. And will continue to train as usual.”
