2016 Rio Olympics silver medalists Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong have parted separate ways. Goh V Shem will partner up with a 27-year-old Low Juan Shen (Malaysia) at the upcoming Yonex Chinese Taipei Open 2021 (7-12 September).

There is no entry for Tan Wee Kiong in the same tournament.

The duo had slowly become a shadow of their former glory and won only two titles in three years (2017-2019). The last title which the world No.13 pair won was back in September of 2019 when they won the Chinese Taipei Open.

On his social media, Tan Wee Kiong wrote, “Thank you for being my partner for the past 7 years. I would not have achieved the level of my badminton career without you, notably the Rio Olympic silver medal and the world number 1. I am thankful for all the support on and off the court.”

“I wish you all the best in the future. Last but not least, I would like to thank our sponsors & supporters for giving us a hand since we became independent players,” he added.

Neither Tan nor Goh has stated a reason for dissolving their partnership. It is also not certain whether Tan Wee Kiong will enter retirement.
