Indonesian favourites and world no 1s Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon ended their bid for gold at Tokyo in disappointing fashion after being stopped by the Malaysian pair of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik today in the quarter-finals.

Chia and Soh won in straight games with a scoreline of 21-14, 21-17 in a match that lasted 33 minutes.

The ‘Minions’ are the second top seeds to fall in the tournament, after Kento Momota of Japan crashed out yesterday from the men’s singles event.
