Chinese doubles player Chen Lu was included in the list of players who violated the code of ethics released by BWF. According to Aiyuke, Chen Lu violated the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) doping rules when participating in the 2019 National Badminton Team Championships on 7 December 2019.

According to reports, Chen Lu was found using a substance called hydrochlorothiazide during the National Championships last year. The announcement of this news was not made immediately but made in March. Subsequently, Chen had withdrawn her entry from the Spain Masters in February.

Athletes take the drug hydrochlorothiazide for two main reasons. First, the drug helps in reducing weight. And second, the intake of this drug increases urine output and excretion of other stimulants from the body thereby can give false negative drug test results. If present in the body, it can dilute illegal drugs in the urine, which will cover up the presence of illegal drugs in the body.

Chen Lu is suspended until February 5, 2021.
