Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has appointed Indonesian coach Flandy Limpele as the head coach of its men’s doubles department, an official press release stated.

Limpele resigned from Badminton Association of India just before the All England Badminton Championships citing family matters. Limpele was the men’s doubles coach in India for a year and was instrumental in lifting the Indian doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy to a career-high of 7 in the world rankings.

Limpele’s arrival coincides with a major restructuring of the coaching staffs of BAM.

Hendrawan will return as the head coach of the men’s singles department, taking over the reins from Misbun Sidek. Tey Seu Bock, who was the women’s singles head coach, will now be an assistant men’s singles coach to Hendrawan.

Indra Wijaya who was the men’s singles assistant coach will now take over the women’s singles department as the head coach.

National players of BAM are currently in lockdown and are set to resume training from June 1.
