Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo advanced to the final of the 2021 Daihatsu Indonesia Masters after defeating Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi of Malaysia 18-21 21-17 21-11 in the semi-final.

When Gideon and Sukamuljo were game points down (18-20) in the first game, a hawkeye challenge was made by their opponents on a line call.

The serve delivered by Ong Yew Sin was initially called out, but hawkeye overruled it and called it in. This effectively gave the point and the game to the Malaysians.

However, video replay showed that the shuttle was clearly out by almost 2-3 inches. Gideon and Sukamuljo were helpless and in utter disbelief.

After the match, Sukamuljo told Jawapos, “It was 1000 percent hawk eye’s fault. That’s 1000 percent out. Our opponents also admitted it was out. Far out. Those were crucial points. BWF should fix it.

“At that time, we tried to forget about the thing and just focus again on the second game.”

The minions will face Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi tomorrow in their 4th Indonesia Masters final.
