Lee Zii Jia’s coach Hendrawan broke down in tears in happiness during an interview with Nadi Arena. He revealed that he wanted to submit his resignation letter to BAM after a disastrous first tournament as the men’s singles head coach in the Thailand tournaments in January. But the association did not allow his resignation.

Hendrawan, in a separate interview, said, “Not in my wildest dreams, (did I think) that he would go on to beat the best two players in the world… Kento Momota and Viktor Axelsen, and become the champion…

“It’s okay that I couldn’t be there. I’m still the happiest and proudest man.”
