The Chinese Taipei Badminton Association withdraws from the upcoming Thomas and Uber Cup set for October in Denmark. However, Sports Sina has reported that Chou Tien Chen and Wang Tzu Wei would be participating in the individual tournaments Denmark Open I & II.

After the Danish leg of tournaments, the tournaments are scheduled in Asia after a break of two weeks. Although BWF does not mandate a 14-day quarantine period upon arrival in Denmark, the Chinese Taipei government requires a compulsory 14-day quarantine upon re-entry to the country.

This infers that when the players re-enter their home country, they would be under a 14-day quarantine which means they would not be able to train for the Asian leg, which would be closer to home. Major players like Tai Tzu Ying will not be participating in any of the tournaments set in Denmark.

However, world No. 2 Chou Tien Chen said he would be participating in Denmark Open I & II. He said that the decision was a difficult one but it was a needed one. He said, “It looks like we have to co-exist with the virus for a long time. We just have to try to return to normalcy, so I have decided to participate in the two Danish Super 750 tournaments.”
