Women’s singles will arguably be the most fiercely competed event at the Olympics this year. China’s top prospect Chen Yu Fei analysed some of the players she might possibly face off against in Tokyo.
In a recent interview with CCTV5, Chen Yu Fei said, “(Carolina) Marin, Tai Tzu Ying, (Ratchanok) Intanon (are the main rivals)… Intanon, it depends on what her condition is. I think sometimes she is in good shape, but sometimes her performance is average due to physical reasons or some other reason.”
“If you think about it, there are many more. I think (Akane) Yamaguchi and (Nozomi) Okuhara are both very good. (PV) Sindhu may not be considered based on her current form, but then she will not necessarily be the same when the tournament comes. So I think everyone has a fighting chance.”
