Carolina Marin has suffered an injury in the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) of her left knee, the defending Olympic champion confirmed in a statement. She felt some discomfort in her left knee during her routine practice, doctors later confirmed the injury after some preliminary tests. The extent of the injury is not yet known.
The injury will be a major setback to the Spainiard with just two months until the Olympic Games. It may be noted that the injury in her ACL this time is on her left knee, while the ACL injury which she sustained in 2019 was on her right knee.
