Independent players Goh Liu Ying and Chan Peng Soon were in a predicament as their normal training venue had closed indefinitely due to the rising Covid-19 cases in the country.

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has extended the offer to let the Rio Olympics silver medalists train at the centralized training center alongside the national team. According to reports by The Star, Goh and Chan have accepted the offer.

Chan said, “Liu Ying and I will stay and train there like everyone else. We’re grateful for the assistance from BAM. At least we don’t have to worry about having no place to train.”

He continued to say that training with the national team was their best and safest option.

“We feel that it’s still too risky to train at any of the commercial facilities out there…We can’t afford to waste any more time as we have tournaments coming up in January.”
