President of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Tan Sri Norza Zakaria gave a clear signal today that BAM is committed to keeping the sport clean and free from match-fixing.

The comments from the BAM President came after news broke out that an official from BAM tried to bribe Taufik Hidayat to lose against Lee Chong Wei during the semi-final of the 2006 Asian Games in Doha.

“I have told Datuk Kenny (Goh, BAM secretary) to look into Taufik’s claim. But first we’ll need to verify the story to ensure if it actually took place,” Norza told the Star.

“Based on Taufik and Chong Wei’s statements, I believe the BWF would probably have a basis to investigate. If needed, we will assist in anyway we can,” he added.
