Danish doubles player Mathias Thyrri who is a participant at the ongoing 2021 European Championships has tested positive for Covid-19. This is the third positive case in the Danish squad, after doubles players Joel Eipe and Rasmus Kjær tested positive before the start of the tournament.
Thyrri and his partner Daniel Lundgaard are currently in quarantine. Though they were knocked out in the first round, they will remain in host city Kyiv, Ukraine to complete a 2-week quarantine.
Director of Elite Sports – Badminton Denmark, Jens Meibom said, “Of course, we hope it stops there. We do what we can to avoid more infections… It’s something that really tires us out. It definitely creates an uncertainty in the squad.”
Badminton Denmark has restricted physio sessions for its players at the tournaments to stop the spread of the virus in its camp.
