The tragedy that struck the Indonesian team at the 2021 All England championships resulted in huge losses for players – time, energy and effort. For independent players Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan who bear their own expenses, the financial loss was also very significant.

Setiawan emphasized, “As a professional player, I have to be responsible towards the sponsors as well. So in my opinion, apart from losing time, (I am losing) money too.”

He added, “I haven’t calculated how much. Approximately 100 to 200 (million Indonesian Rupees, roughly 7000 US Dollars). Approximately 100 million for both of us (with Mohammad Ahsan).”
